Rotiform at Players Classic 2022

Immaculate Perfection: Players consummate their reputation for all things automotive extravagance at the 2022 Classic   ( Video below )

They say perfection doesn’t exist in nature. Instead, it’s nature’s imperfection, uniqueness, and seemingly indifference to humankind and our rules that makes it – in a sense – perfect. So that begs the question: “what is perfection?” Is it in the eye of the beholder; a subjective and unquantifiable beauty, or is it a mathematically verifiable, symmetric, and scientifically proven thing? Does it fit in nice, orderly boxes or is it chaotic and shifting like a fever dream?

That’s the thing about our perception, whatever perfection is to you, literally no two people on this planet will share the exact same feeling at the same time about it, ever. It’s what makes building cars equally rewarding and heartbreaking. Some people hate Corvettes, and some people love MK3 Jettas. Some people will see the beauty in the exotic, mundane, and long-term project, and others just won’t get it.

So how does this coincide with Players’ shows? Well, we now know that nothing is certain. My sense of beauty and perfection isn’t yours, and vice versa. But what occurs at the Players Classic almost transcends that. What does it say about a community that can all agree when something is perfect, beautiful, and created with such grace and unparalleled quality it deserves a nod of respect? Afterall, it’s what defines, drives, and inspires us to build these cars; to share them with our community, express ourselves and share our version of perfection with the world. It doesn’t have to be your version of perfection, but you should recognize its mine. It’s what Players shows have strived for since the beginning: unanimous perfection. And this year’s Players Classic was so perfect, it hurt.

Over 12,000 automotive aficionados flocked to the world-renowned Goodwood Motor Circuit in Chichester, UK last month to bear witness to carefully curated automotive archetypes gracing the paddock and infield. The weekend was met with perfect weather (ok ok, in this case nature was perfect get off our back), and a variety of vehicles. From regal classics to modern tech, American muscle to British icons, the show was at no lack of representation across the automotive spectrum.

What makes Players Classic so appealing is its something-for-everyone vibe. Not only was the impeccable lineup of show-stopping builds on full display, but performance junkies and track rats got their fill with all-day circuit action and drifting. It all comes together at the Players’ events like a 360-degree immersive experience that plays on each sense with just the right amounts of intrigue and fulfillment.

What can we say about the Auto Finesse S15? It’s a car built by a bunch of guys that make a living off clean cars, so you know it’s built right. The S15 240sx is a car long lusted for back here in the states, and for good reason. Every few decades a platform is conceived after what we imagine was the product of a deal with the devil. How else can a car flow through decades and look so good while doing so? This Silvia’s Liberty Walk mammoth widebody and ample aero are the perfect scene setters for the Rotiform WGR-M.

Remember what we were saying about your sense of perfect? This E29’s exterior certainly spoke to someone on a higher level (get it… because it probably looks crazy when you’re… nevermind). While the abstract geometric paintwork is enough to keep you busy untangling your mind for a few days, its unworldly wide demeanor and time-attack mojo will entrance you back in. We’re curious just how this 40-year-old Bavarian art piece from Kustom Kolors holds its down on the track with its custom Rotiform LHR.

Not only was the 2022 Classic a wild success, but the Players team upped their production value with all-day, live-streaming of Saturday’s happenings – bringing coverage to enthusiasts all over the globe real time. Yet another example of Players’ global perspective and outreach initiatives within the automotive community. Whether you were there in person or caught the action via stream, one thing is certain: pictures do not do it justice. Watch the video below to experience Players Classic in full effect.
