SEMA 2018

EVENT COVERAGE

Things won’t change until we do.

SEMA 2018… After nine years of super hot wheels, breaking rules/traditions/molds (and most importantly, necks) we felt it was time to *CHANGE the formula. This year would be different for Rotiform.

Lets start with the oldest, Rotiform co-founder Jason Whipple’s 1980 VW Scirocco. This is/will be/has been his passion project for almost 7 years and has been transformed from a mundane track day beater into a full on Berg Cup spec road racing art car. Nothing was left idle for this build starting with a 14:1 compression ratio USF3 spec 2.0 liter alloy powerplant, cage, fuel cell, custom @H&R suspension, and rounded out with an arresting paint job. Lets talk about the paint job – this car was hand painted by @ornamentalconifer with some coniferisms intended to create conversation. What does it mean? For us it meant we had to come out with a new f##king wheel that would compliment this wild new paint – hence the all new BUC-M was born. Shown here in a 15″ x 9″ forged 2-piece welded configuration, this motorsport themed lightweight wheel really shines (pun intended).

WILD is part of every thought concerning the @wraplegends Huracan. Perched in the center of the Nitto Tire booth sporting a new 1016 widebody kit, new wrap (of course!) and a sick mismatched Rotiform LHR/917 wheel combo.

@benharmony went full Incredible Hulk with the latest remix on his stunning Porsche 993 @RWB. Green with envy is an understatement looking at the new interior, huge @Brembo brakes and new Rotiform WGR-M 3-piece forged wheels. Also part of the new Rotiform Motorsport collection this wheel pays homage to the classic wheel fans with a modern five spoke lightweight center – mean and green.

If the show could be stolen @button built would be guilty of the crime. His 1988 Ferrari 328 should be recognized by the city of Las Vegas as an historic landmark. Wearing a new shade of grey and rolling on a set of 3-piece forged Rotiform DNO in Death Bronze…in the words of the great Ferris Bueller, “It is so choice. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up.”

If Tony Stark closed his eyes and started imagining his next car, Rotiform co-founder Brian Henderson’s R8 would be what he was daydreaming about. This 2018 R8 RWS (1 of 999 worldwide) now sports 805 @VF Engineering supercharged horespower, carbon body work from Audi Sport and @Balanceit_Tuning, titanium hand built exhaust by @SheepyRace that sounds like ripping silk, @H&R RSS+ coilovers and of course a wild new set of Rotiform Motorsport DAB-M mono-2 forged wheels. Can it get any better? No, no it cant.

The year is 1976, seeing a loophole in the rulebook, Porsche developed a new “slantnose”  treatment for the 935 that dominated racetracks and ruled our emotions. The road to SEMA is nothing like the Mulsanne Straight but we wanted our 996 to look just as good doing so. A quick call to @oldnew_jp secured us the first kit in the USA and we raced over to Strasse Sport to get it installed and painted. @SadisticIronworks went full custom as usual on the @airlift adjustable suspension so we could run some huge @toyotires on our @rotiform 19″ x wide 3-piece LHR’s.

From render to reality. No, really – lots of folks say it but @the_kyza actually went and did it. This 1990 BMW e30 was literally transformed by @LTO_livetooffend with their own carbon fibre DTM inspired widebody kit. When people say details matter they must be talking about this car. Each minute you spend studying it reveals another design detail that you missed initially. A set of our Rotiform BM1 concave forged wheels perfectly compliments the retro-future theme. You absolutely must, must, must see this car on the move. Roll on over to our video here.

Well, if we started with a bang — we went out with an explosion. Another SEMA show in the books yet the gears are already turning about the next. Remember this – Things won’t change until we do. See you next year in Vegas!
